Eva Quartet: Gergana Dimitrova (soprano), Sofia Kovacheva (mezzo-soprano), Evelina Christova (alto), Daniela Stoichkova (contralto)
“Beguiling like the singing of Homer’s sirens in the Odyssee, the sound threads of their simple, pure voices lure the heart and the mind. Overwhelming modesty of great voices.”(Leipziger Volkszeitung)
Bulgarian polyphony, a genre that became popular through the recordings of Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares choir, finds apt representation in the skilful voices of the Eva Quartet. In the 20 years of their international career, the Eva Quartet have achieved significant distinctions, performed numerous successful concerts on major stages throughout the world and taken part in renowned festivals. Their four unique voices mingle in such a masterful way that at times they sound like one single multilayered voice while at others like a choir. Their repertoire, which spans from traditional Bulgarian music and church hymns to contemporary jazz music, always creates a mystic, transcendental atmosphere. The release of their work “The Arch”, which involved the collaboration of more than 50 acknowledged artists from different music genres and parts of the world, brought them to the second place of the European charts of World Ethnic music (February / March 2013).
